Telephone Service Support:
While it is recommended to use a qualified electrician or telephone technician for installation, troubleshooting and/or repairs, you may follow the steps listed below to troubleshoot on your own.
Please note the CAUTIONS before attempting any repairs.
Basic Telephone Troubleshooting:
By finding the source of the problem, you will know whom to call to have the problem repaired.
- Check your telephone service at the Telephone Modem (MTA).
- Testing can be performed with a standard corded telephone at the Telephone Modem (MTA) line jack.
- Testing Instructions are located at - "Testing Telephone Services".
- Check your telephone or other device connections.
- Testing can be performed with a standard corded telephone at the wall jack or the Telephone Modem (MTA) line jack.
- Testing Instructions are located at - "Diagnosing Problems".
- If the problem is with the inside wiring or jacks you may do the following.
- Make your own repairs.
- Have an electrician, contractor, or another party make the repairs.
- Please Note:
- Service Electric Telephone, LLC does not repair third party telephone equipment.
- A service fee will be charged for any problems to telephones, related equipment or inside wiring if you call us to your residence or business.
- The responsibility of maintaining the inside wiring may not be yours if you reside in an apartment, dorm, condo, co-op, nursing home or other group living facility.
- Please contact the property owner to determine responsibility.
- Service Electric Telephone, LLC does not repair third party telephone equipment.
- If your cable television service is not working, please call your local cable company.
Calling Issues:
In order for Service Electric Telephone to troubleshoot call failures, we will need a call example to look at.
- Please provide the following Information:
- Calling Number.
- Called Number.
- Time & Date of Failure.
- Call failures should be reported within 24 hours of the failure.
- Type of Call.
- Examples: Inbound, Outbound, Extension to Extension, International, Fax, Voice Mail, Etc.
- Failure Description and Details.
- Examples: Post Dial Delay for 20 seconds (Delay till Ringing), One-way Voice Path from Originating number to Terminating number.
