Testing Telephone Services
Testing Individual Lines:
- Check the Indicator lights.
- Power Light.
- If the light is off.
- Check connections of the power cable.
- Check power to the Outlet.
- Check all power strips and/or UPS units if being used.
- US, DS and Online Lights.
- If any of these lights are flashing, contact Service Electric Telephone Repair.
- A single Tel light is flashing with all phones on-hook.
- Remove plug from Line jack on the back of the Telephone Modem (MTA).
- If the Indicator light stops flashing, there is a short on the inside wiring.
- Contact a qualified electrician or your telephone system vendor to repair.
- If the indicator light keeps flashing, contact Service Electric Telephone Repair.
- All tel lights are flashing.
- The Telephone Modem (MTA) is activating the telephone service.
- Only the telephone lines being provisioned will flash.
- This process can take several minutes.
- If the lines do not stop flashing, contact Service Electric Telephone Repair.
- Testing Tel port.
- Remove the plug from line jack on the back of the Telephone Modem (MTA).
- Connect working corded telephone’s base cord directly into the line jack of the Telephone Modem (MTA).
- If Dial tone is present, test inbound and outbound calling.
- Reconnect Inside wiring and check for dial tone.
- If dial tone is not present on the inside wiring, contact your telephone system vendor or a qualified electrician.
- If dial tone is not present, contact Service Electric Telephone Repair.
