Call answering and Your caller
Call answering is convenient for your callers as well as for you. If you are busy or away from your phone, callers can leave a message instead of calling again.
Greetings your callers hear:
No answer greeting:
When you do not answer your phone, your callers hear the personalized greeting you have recorded. If you have not recorded a greeting, your callers will hear a standard system greeting.
Full mailbox greeting:
This greeting plays if you have allowed your mailbox to become full and your callers can not leave messages. After hearing your personalized greeting, your callers will be informed that the mailbox is full. They will then be disconnected.
Busy greeting:
This greeting is optional and tells callers your line is busy. It plays first, followed by your personal greeting (if you recorded one). Knowing that you are there allows the caller to leave a more specific message. Check with your service representative to see if busy notification is available on your system.
Caller options.
Leaving a message:
At the end of your personalized greeting, your callers hear a 'beep' tone. This is the signal to leave a message. Your service representative can tell you the maximum length of message your callers can record. To end their message session, callers simply hang up. If callers do not want to hang up, but want call answering to disconnect (in order to make a second credit card call, for example), they can press * *.
Accessing another number:
Callers can be transferred to another number, if this option is available, by pressing 0 before or after leaving a message.
Bypassing your greeting:
Your caller can press # to skip your greeting and go directly to recording a message. This is convenient feature for someone who calls you frequently and does not need to hear your greeting each time.
Mailbox security:
Callers can not access your mailbox unless they know your password. This protects the security of your mailbox.
Remote notification
The remote notification option informs you of incoming messages by calling you at a phone number or pager number you specify. You call your system administrator to set up or change your schedule and remote numbers.
How remote notification works:
Remote notification:
When a new message is deposited in your mailbox, the remote notification service informs you. You can then access your mailbox to play the message.
If you do not access your mailbox, or if the call is unanswered, remote notification cycles through your list of numbers until the call is answered, disabled, or the maximum number of entry attempts is reached. If the line is busy, remote notification continues to retry that number until the maximum number of retry attempts is reached.
When you answer a remote notification call, you can choose to temporarily turn off remote notification.
Schedule types:
A schedule allows you to define when and where you want to be notified of new messages. You may be able to set up separate schedules for business days and nonbusiness days.
You can also set up temporary schedules which override normal schedules.
Phone numbers and pagers:
You specify the telephone or pager numbers where you want to be notified. You can specify up to three phone numbers per time period.
Tell the administrator if you have a pager callback number or a paging service personal identification number (PIN).
Time Periods:
You may be able to define up to three time periods per schedule. Time periods within a schedule can not overlap and must start and end within the same day.
Turning remote notification on and off:
1. After accessing your mailbox, press 9 on the main menu to select mailbox setup, then press 4 for remote notification.
2. Press 2 to turn on remote notification
3. Press 3 to turn it off.
Answering a call from remote notification:
When remote notification calls you at your remote phone, press 1 to access your mailbox, then play your messages. If your remote number is a pager, go to a telephone to access call answering, then play your messages.
Simplified call answering
Some call answering subscribers use a simplified version requiring no touch tone commands. System access and greeting change numbers are provided by your service representative.

2. When you hear the tone, start to record your greeting.
3. When you are finished, hang up.
